How To Repair URLMon DLL Errors

The URLMon.dll file is employed by Windows to load its "Object Linking & Embedding" structure. It plays a vital role in many of your system's high profile software tools, and is crucial to Microsoft Office running properly, yet at times it can cause continual errors, making your computer unreliable and perform more slowly than it should. While you might think these problems are the end of the world, don't despair, for there is a very simple fix for this issue, so long as you understand what's causing it.

More similar errors:

gutils.dll          kbdsmsfi.dll          KLSCAV.DLL

MLANG.DLL.MUI       VBPID.DLL             CasPol.resources.dll

MFCAPWZ.DLL         ctor.dll

The error this file normally causes is this:

  •     "STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum} The image urlmon.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum"

The problem is all down to this file either becoming corrupted or damaged. Although it's essential for the smooth operation of Windows, the problem is that this file will continually be saved in the wrong way, or have parts of it removed when in use. This will then prevent your computer from being able to use the file when it next needs to, causing a huge number of problems & errors.

The first step to resolving the URLMon error is to replace the file on your PC with a new one from the Internet. There are a number of DLL websites which basically allow you to download fresh copies of popular DLL files onto your computer, and then use that file to replace any of the damaged versions of the file your PC may have. To do this, just download a new copy of the file from the Internet and save it to your hard drive. Then place the file into the "C:WindowsSystem32" folder of your PC to replace the damaged one that your system currently has. This will refresh the file and should stop it from not loading up correctly.

On top of this, it's also recommended that you clean out the "registry" of your PC with a registry cleaner. The registry is a large database which stores all the files, settings and options that your computer needs to use to run, and is therefore a highly important part of every Windows system. The problem many computers have is that the registry of Windows will become damaged and therefore unreadable. This will prevent your PC from being able to process the files & settings it needs to run, causing your system to run slower & show the errors you're seeing.
